Anti-Atlas – Hiking Trip
In the Footsteps of the Amazigh
1-Week Hiking Trip in the Anti-Atlas
Hiking in Moroccos wild Anti-Atlas mountains
Are you looking for the authentic Morocco, far off the beaten path? Then join us in the Anti-Atlas. This journey combines the meditative silence of a mountain trek with the adrenaline of a canyoning adventure.
The Highlight of Your Trip
The Anti-Atlas captivates with its bizarre pink granite formations, vast valleys filled with almond trees, and the warm hospitality of the Berbers. We hike through lonely gorges and across barren peaks before diving deep into lush, water-filled canyons on the penultimate day.

Itinerary
Your journey starts and ends in Agadir. In between, we take care of everything for your well-being.
Arrival & Start: After the transfer to the Anti-Atlas, we begin with a scenic day hike and an adrenaline-filled canyoning excursion.
Tafraoute: On the third day, we treat ourselves to the classic sights around Tafraoute. The painted rocks are just one part of the magic. In the evening, a car transfer takes us to our nomad experience.
The Nomad Experience: We travel a bit further north for three full days of authentic nomadic life. Accompanied by a local mountain guide, donkeys, and a cook (including luggage transport), we experience the true life of the Amazigh (also known as Berbers). We spend one night in simple mountain accommodation, followed by two nights in tents and three full days of hiking through the Anti-Atlas.
Return: Finally, you will be transferred back to Agadir, with your flight home scheduled for the following day.
Note: The guide will decide the exact daily schedule on short notice based on weather conditions to ensure you get the most out of your trip.

You will receive an information pack (GPS track, hut information and local contact details)
You can book additional services such as shuttle service, catering package, camping package (camping equipment and food will be brought to your destination in some places)
The “paths” are often faint and difficult to distinguish. You will encounter sections with loose scree. The difficulty level is comparable to a typical hike in the Alps, with the added challenge of route-finding.
Experience: Experienced hikers will have no trouble here. However, if you have never been hiking before, you should gain some experience before booking this trip.
Safety Note: Please be aware that in this region, there is no continuous rescue chain (mountain rescue service) like the ones found in the Alps.
Our Guides: Guiding is provided either by us or by experienced, English-speaking local guides with excellent knowledge of the country and its people.
Every day we go on a hike with an altitude difference of 600 – 800 meters.
The hikes are approx. 8-12 km long and take 4-6 hours – you should be in good physical condition.
Yes, we offer a self-guided tour. Self-guided means you hike on your own during the day without a guide. You hike the same route – without a guide but with your GPS device.
At the end of each stage of the tour, refreshments will be waiting for you. Your camping equipment can also be transported on request. Rental equipment (tent, mat) is available.
You save yourself the tedious organization (and the costs for the guide), but have the full adventure.
The tour is otherwise the same as the normal hiking tour.
If you are interested, please ask for the “Self-guided” option in the contact form.
In general, traveling to Morocco is very safe for tourists in the mountain areas. Please consult your local foreign ministry for up to date information.
The main danger in the mountains is the wildness – there is no rescue system.
We therefore recommend that you have some hiking experience before embarking on this hike. The focus here is on enjoyment rather than sporting records!
Of course, our guides are well trained to deal with these dangers for you.
No problem, just let us know as soon as possible.
However, if cancellation costs are incurred before you cancel, we will have to pass these on to you.
We recommend that you take your typical safety precautions in advance that you would normally take on a mountain trip.
As standard, you should have mountain insurance for alpine accidents (e.g. through alpine clubs), and foreign health insurance is also a good idea (non-EU countries). Travel cancellation insurance is also worth considering.
Bad weather or even storms are part of an outdoor winter tour.
Our guides adapt the daily program daily. You will be informed of any necessary changes to the program no later than the evening before. Our guides will discuss the deviations from the plan with you and together we will find an enjoyable program for the participants based on the guide’s suggestions.
Agadir Airport is easily accessible from most domestic airports, even with low-cost airlines (Ryanair, Wizzair…).
Tips for dividing up your flight baggage:
1.) Hand luggage (touring backpack 25-40 liters):
This is where you pack your important hiking equipment. Cell phone, rain jacket, emergency equipment, toothbrush, set of underwear. Everything that is absolutely necessary for a hike. It’s best to wear your hiking boots straight away.
2) Checked baggage: All remaining personal equipment including casual clothing for the evening. Please only carry a maximum of one external pannier or semi-soft suitcase (no hard-shell suitcase).
For this tour we provide the necesssary camping and canyoning eqipment. You need to bring your hiking equipment yourself.
