The TOP Bike Parks in Tyrol! Get your Downhill fix near Innsbruck on the best trails
Bike Parks pop up like mushroom in ski ressorts these days. We show you the top 3 Bike Parks for Downhillers near Innsbruck in Tyrol.
Cycling through mountains, which made its way to the Olympics mid-nineties, is also a very popular recreational sport – in a non-competitive environment. Since the 1980s, technology and materials have advanced rapidly, making the sport accessible to a broad user base, and a lot safer. With that, lift-assisted biking became a big alpine trend, and one such (Innsbruck) adventure is converted here. Get to know various cycling parks and join us on your two-wheel friend.
Sophisticated frame designs and shock absorption characteristics, as well as motorized mountain bikes and likewise the lift use of ski area facilities, are making the sport increasingly popular. Downhill biking is becoming the skiing of the summer. Although the first downhill races took place in Austria in the 1980s, Tyroleans have only discovered the sport over the last few years.
Most of the possibilities are still quite manageable for downhill cyclists and also qualitatively not comparable with the more mature concepts in the Western and Southern Alps or other mountain regions worldwide.

Tips: Please note: Austria has strict forestry laws. Mountain biking outside marked trails is prohibited!
Innsbruck Bikepark
The Innsbruck Bikepark is located in the ski resort of Mutters at the Mutterer Almbahn. Only put into operation in 2016, the offer here continues to develop, albeit sluggishly and with greater difficulties.
Currently, the bike park features two or four trails (depending on the count). The trails run in well-suited terrain not too steep and not too flat.
Place: Mutterer Almbahn
Difficulty level: easy-medium
Innsbruck Nordkette Singletrail – Arzler Alm Trail
Probably the oldest official bike trail in Innsbruck and Tyrol is the Nordketten Singletrail. A handful of local bikers were allowed to build this trail as they saw fit in the forest aisle of the Nordkettenbahn. Update: The trail is out of service in 2022+2023. Get lower and enjoy the Arzler Alm Trail – the only legal bike trail in Innsbruck.
Today it is considered one of the most difficult and steepest, bike park trails in the Alps. Whether you can have fun here is certainly subjective. Where most bikers who try this trail once ask for an easy alternative, a few steep specialists enjoy the tight hairpin turns.
Often interspersed with chair- and table-high steps, you have to be exceptionally proficient on your mountain bike here. There are no officially permitted alternatives to this. In connection with the Arzler Hut trail, you get back almost to the town on a single trail.
Location: Nordkette/Innsbruck
Difficulty level: difficult
Nauders
The bike park in Nauders connects several lifts between Nauders and Lake Reschen. The trails are less suitable for downhill full-throttle pilots, but rather for enduro riders.
The trails are a bit more angular, more individually laid out and some routes require short or longer uphill stretches. The bike circuit that this creates between Nauders and Lake Resia has many fans and is also very popular with Transalp riders.
Place: Nauders/Reschen
Difficulty level: medium
Sölden
The bike park in Sölden is not that old and has become a well-known brand thanks to greater efforts and investments. In 2020, you will find about a dozen trails spread between the glacier ski area and Sölden.
In addition to the bike park trails, there are some official shared trails in the Ötztal valley that expand the offer for endurists and all-mountain riders.
Location: Sölden/Ötztal
Difficulty level: easy-medium
Elferlifte
This small bike park in the Stubai Valley may only include two trails in 2020, but they both cover a decent amount of vertical distance.
The terrain is generally relatively steep, so experienced single trail and enduro riders, in particular, will feel right at home on the more difficult “EinsEinser” route. Anyone who appreciates a steep and technical course is not wrong here.
Location: Neustift i. Stubaital
Difficulty level: medium
Fiss-Serfaus-Ladis
One of the first and still largest bike parks in the eastern Northern Alps is located in Fiss-Serfaus-Ladis. The generally rather moderately inclined alpine terrain is ideal for beginners and advanced bikers.
Most of the routes are correspondingly easy and often wide. Some of them even receive the predicate “suitable for baby carriages”.
Natural single trails and downhill alternatives, which also challenge good riders and invite them to play with the created obstacles, are also available.
Location: Fiss/Serfaus/Ladis
Difficulty level: easy-medium
