Instead of running along a river or in the city forest or park, however, people in Innsbruck go for a quick run up a mountain and cover a lot of altitude in addition to the kilometers. If you like this kind of leisure activity, the Stangensteig is an enjoyable training route.

As a hike, it is recommended to include one of the traditional alpine inns – Rauschbrunnen or Buzihütte – as a stop for a break. Traditional cuisine with a view is guaranteed here.

Directions! This is how your sporty Trailrun in Innsbruck adventure looks like on a map

Start at the Planötzenhof (parking lot). On forest paths slightly uphill to a forest path. Turn left here and follow this path in a westerly direction. The trail winds along the slope without any significant elevation changes until you meet the Stangensteig. The trail leads us with a short forest road section almost to just before the Kerschbuchhof. Here the trail changes direction. On forest paths it tends to go downhill towards the east. Via the Buzihütte and the Grünen Boden the trail leads back to the starting point. The route is well signposted.
