Alpine Photography Realized – Lago di Carezza Family-Friendly Hike

Time flies when you’re having fun, so 9.1-kilometer Lago di Carezza family-friendly hiking route could end in what seems to be a blink of an eye. But you will have your photographs and memories with you, as well as the possibility to make this nature episode into a rerun. Mountain Moments gives you all the insights you need, including maps, route information, and valuable tips.

One of the most popular excursion destinations for the whole family and landscape photographers is the Lago di Carezza/Karersee (Lake Carezza). There is probably no other mountain lake that is so easily accessible, at the same time natural and so picturesquely situated. The barrier-free access to the lakeshore allows even beginners and inexperienced hikers to realize alpine photography.

This easy hike offers easy trails and a unique experience with the beautiful Lake Carezza and the impressive mountain ranges of dolomite rock in the background. If you are only looking for a short, enjoyable walk, you can also just walk the short lake circuit.

This storm destroyed numerous forest areas in the region. However, the forest side, which serves as a photo motif with Lake Carezza and the Latemar, was not affected. In the meantime, reforestation is in full swing and soon the forest will reappear in its usual splendor.

Directions! This is how your Lago di Carezza route looks like on a map

From the parking lot or from the bus stop Lago di Carezza/Karersee follow the lakeside path to the right. After approx. 200m do not continue on the Seerunde-path, but turn off onto the Perlen path number 11 behind it in the direction of Mitterleger. After about 1.5km, the Perlen path continues to the Latemar group after a right-hand bend, as well as a small forest path straight ahead.

Take the small, inconspicuous hiking trail straight ahead. Then turn right into the forest path number 18 parallel to the small Seebach stream. After just under 1km you will reach a junction with the signs Latemar Alm (left) and Latemarscharte (straight ahead/weakly right). Continue along the path to the Latemarscharte uphill to the next prominent crossroads. From there downhill across the Latemar meadows and later across the ski slope to just above the top station of the Hubertus gondola.

There are plenty of picnic areas on the slope. From there there is a clear view of the Rosengarten group. Then continue to the left on the forest path mostly slightly downhill and always follow the signs of the Karersee to the starting point.

Tip: for families and connoisseurs: behind the parking lot, a barrier-free underpass leads to the lake.

Note: Please pay attention to the barriers. Lake Carezza is a sensitive natural area and is located in the nature protection zone. Respect nature and do not climb over the barriers.

For adventurous children and adults, the tour can be extended by about 1.5 to 2 hours of discovery via the stone labyrinth for picnicking or bouldering.

Our personal tip is located at the top of the ski slope at Prad di Tori. From there we watch - somewhat unexpectedly and with a little luck - the sunset and the famous, blood-red Dolomite glow on the Catinaccio group.
