TOP-5 Prettiest Images From German Alps – & Where YOU Can Take Them
Mountains, hills, and valleys of the European Alps. Eight different countries touch the Alps, and we had the privilege to update our image collections on all of them, from France and Switzerland to Austria and Slovenia.
Germany is also an important part of our adventures, and this is the territory we are covering today!
Important note before we begin: All these locations are mentioned in the comprehensive hiking/photography guide dedicated to the German Alps, which will be available soon on the Mountain Moments web store in ebook format.
What will you learn from this blog post? We will give you insight into Mountain Moments eBook guide for German Alps by sharing with you some of the most beautiful images we’ve ever captured. Also, you will know the location for each of these photographs, in case you want to capture some of them yourself!
Let’s begin with our Top-5 list, in no particular order.
Photograph 1: Lake Schreck in Meadow Slopes
This is the image of Lake Schreck, which – by many – is the most beautiful mountain lake in Germany. This journey in Allgäu Alps starts and finishes at Hinterstein, and with its 20-kilometer distance and 1600m/1600m ascent/descent, it’s reserved for very experienced hikers/photographers. You also need to keep in mind that refreshment stops are not readily available considering the length.
Photograph 2: Fairytale-Like Neuschwanstein Castle
Neuschwanstein Castle in the Bavarian Alps can be photographed from five different locations on the 20-kilometer/8-hour/medium-to-difficult hiking trail we covered in detail in the eBook, and here on Mountain Moments, as well.
This is Neuschwanstein Castle in a different season. Which one do you prefer?
Photograph 3: Emerald-Green Lake Eibsee
In this photograph, you can see Lake Eibsee in the so-called “German Caribbeans”, with Zugspitze in the background. Unlike the previously-mentioned route, this one is easy and can be covered in under 2 hours (7 kilometers). Sunrise photoshoot in midsummer is fantastic, but you can create a great portfolio in all seasons.
Photograph 4: Karwendel Nature Park on the Karwendel Mountain Chain
In the Karwendel Nature Park, you can find sycamore trees, some of which are 600 years old. Karwendel mountain chain, which is shared by Austria and Germany, is a dream for landscape photography with amazing views of Karwendel cliffs. The Sylvenstein lake is just one of the perks, however, this 21-route trail is not for beginners. You can find the map in our eBook dedicated to German Alps.
Photograph 5: Hoher Ifen Hike Between Germany and Austria
These sights are available in the Allgäu Alps, west of the Kleinwalsertal valley, where German roads lead to the Hoher Ifen. The tour this image was taken on starts at the parking lot of the Ifen ski area and is 14.5 kilometers long. Refreshment stops are multiple, and there are risks of falling which require attention and safety precautions (in other words, experience).
Conclusion!
In the eBook dedicated to German Alps, we covered more than 25 locations. With it, you have a guide with detailed descriptions from start to finish, maps, photography tips, and important route numbers every hiker needs to know – all in one. Many of the destinations are already covered in the Mountain Moments blog.
Remember, when you are most informed, you are safest, and with that, you are automatically putting yourself in the best position to take the most amazing photos possible.
