Easy Hike at lago di Landro in the Dolomites – Overload your Instagram with Photos of Lake Dürren and Three Peaks
In the Dolomites in South Tyrol, Italy, you can find the astonishing treasure of the Three Peaks Nature Park, Lago di Landro (Lake Dürren). So beautiful, in fact, that the easiness of this route almost seems unfair to nature. But this hiking trail is more than accessible, and on it, you will find plenty of other Instagrammable material. Get all hiking information including map and best viewpoints in this blog.
Steeply enclosed between the Braies Dolomites and the Sesto Dolomites lies Lake Dürren (Lago di Landro) in the inner Cave Stone Valley. In the middle of the fantastic mountain and peak scenario, the natural lake captivates with its impressive deep turquoise color and exciting location.
Monte Paterno and Tre Cime (Three peaks) can be admired on this easy circular hike. The most photogenic perspective, however, leads from the northern shore of the lake to the impressive northern flank of the Cristallo Group.
Although the lake is already 1406 meters above sea level, this northern flank stretches vertically another 1800 meters towards the sky. This moment invites you to linger and splash around – as well as to take a well-deserved rest after an alpine tour on one of the surrounding mountain giants.
Directions Easy Hiking around Lago di Landro
The starting point is at the parking lot/stop Dürrensee/Lago di Landro at the restaurant. The tour leads clockwise around the lake. From the Tre Cime viewpoint along the road to the Tre Cime parking lot.
Here turn right onto Via Alpina 27 in the direction of Rienztal/Tre Cime and after a few meters finally turn off (hiking trail no. 6b) and head south back to the lake. Keep walking along the lake on a picturesque hiking trail.
At the end of the lake continue a little further and take the first opportunity on the right towards Schluderbach. At the driveway before the road turn right and along the bike path between the brook and the road back to the starting point.
Photo tips that will make your Instagram pop – Lake Durren, Rienz Valley and Three Peaks
Probably the most impressive perspective can be enjoyed from the northern shore of the Lake Durren (Lago di Landro). To do this, walk a bit through brush and (mostly) along a dry creek bed to the lakeshore. When photographing, we pay attention to a harmonious composition with the lake framed in the middle and the Cristallo north wall as the background of the picture.
Along the circular path, at the northern end, we catch a glimpse over the treetops into the Rienz Valley towards the Three Peaks.
