Hike High on Seebensee Mountain Lake With Beautiful Zugspitze View
Panoramic hike to Seebensee with Zugspitz: A panoramic trip with all information you need and the best tips for great photographs. In this Seben Lake-oriented hiking trip you will be surrounded, but not trapped. Vorderer Tajakopf, Vorderer Drachenkopf, and Ehrwalder Sonnenspitze mountains “guard” the Mieming mountain range in the Eastern Alps from different sides, and this where your next hiking adventure awaits you. How to join and how your trip looks like on a map, find out below.
As it is well known, in order to enjoy the panorama of a famous mountain, you have to be in the surrounding mountains. This is also the case with this hike with Zugspitze panorama. The tour to Seebensee (Lake Seeben) is also one of the most beautiful in the Zugspitze region.
More than once it impresses with picturesque views of Germany’s highest and most famous mountain.
The 1657m high, crystal clear mountain lake is nestled in pristine nature. Once you reach the top, you will be rewarded by the magnificent view of the lake. However, those who are sporty will probably only want to make a brief photo stop here and then continue the hike to the no less picturesquely situated Dragon lake (Drachensee).
Directions – find out where Seebensee and Dragon lakes are located
From the parking lot make stop at Ehrwalder Alm bahn (1102m) on the road towards Ganghofer Hut/Immensteig. After about 250m turn right onto the Immensteig and follow it. After many serpentines you reach the road, follow it via Seebenalm (1575m) to Seebensee (1657m) (various hiking trails directly near the road).

Go around the lake on the right and continue steeply uphill to the Coburger Hut (1917m). From here walk once around the Dragon lake (Drachensee) and back to the Seebensee. At the far end of Seebensee turn left towards Hoher Gang and after a few meters turn left and follow the hiking trail (812) downhill.
At the first crossroads keep right and finally left, back to the starting point Ehrwalder Alm bahn. More comfortable alternative from the top station of the Ehrwalder Almbahn via the road to the Seebensee (also suitable as MTB tour).
Photo tips for visiting Seebensee and Dragon lake that will make your Instagram pop
Probably the most famous view in the direction of the Zugspitze starts from the back of the Seebensee. But also the view in the direction of the Mieminger mountains with the prominent Tajaköpfen, Drachenkopf, and Griesspitzen mountains does not disappoint us.
Somewhat more alpine and closer to nature is the circumnavigation of the Dragon lake. The climb is worth it at least for the photo, but even more for the peace and high alpine location.
