Is Lago di Braies the Most Beautiful Lake in Italy? Backpack along the lake and Find Out
Is it already Lago di Instagram or Lago di Braies? We don’t know. But not a lot of things can compare to gazing over the glossy, reflective surface of a quiet, peaceful lake in a mountain-occupied area, even if it’s just for a few moments. Lago di Braies (Pragser Wildsee), a beautiful 1500m-high mountain lake in Italy, will make you forget about the act of blinking. Check out the map of this easy 6-kilometer route, find out where you can take the most beautiful pictures, and join us on this hiking journey.
Probably more well-known to photographers, Lake Braies Lake (Italian: Lago di Braies) has been a popular excursion spot in the Alps for young and old for more than a century. Here a quiet mountain lake helps tourist development.
The impressive crowning glory of the panorama, however, is the incredibly powerful north face of the Seekofel mountain, which restricts the view. This gently sloping hike leads around the romantic lake through the picturesque Grünwald valley and allows even alpine beginners to hike the wonders of the Dolomites.
Directions! This is how your Lago di Braies hike looks like on a map
Starting point is the parking lot/stop at the Braies Lake (1496m). Pass the boat rental on the left and walk around the lake to the east/left. At the end of the lake, take the second turning and follow the signs to Grünwaldalm/Hochalm hut/Kreuzjoch (trail no. 19).
Follow the valley to the Grünwaldalm (1590m). Return to the lake and here keep left and walk around the lake to the starting point.
Photo tips that will make your Instagram pop – Braies Lake, Grünwaldalm and Seekofel
The most popular photo spot is located directly on the lake shore around the boat rental. However, other beautiful motifs soon appear along the path around the lake. The Grünwaldalm is also worth a snapshot and invites you to linger.
The Grünwaldalm is harmoniously situated in an alpine valley like in a picture book, with gentle pasture mats and framed by the steep rock faces. The view of the Seekofel north face is particularly impressive.
Mountain Moments Photo Workshops provide Photo Tours for everybody, Alpine Experience for beginners and intermediate-level photographers with 3 to 6-hour routes, as well as Summit Experience for more advanced photographers and hikers. We have private workshops and group classes.
