Family Bike Tour on Innsbruck Hills – Cover Igls, Aldrans and Sistrans near Patscherkofel
The beautiful thing about nature tours, even though you can’t physically cover everything, visually you are not contained, and you can experience a location despite the miles between you. That way you can enjoy a relatively easy family mountain bike tour in the hills of Innsbruck, and admire the beautiful Patscherkofel mountain, located approximately 7 km south of Innsbruck, at the same time. Mountain Moments will show you one such location here, and you are welcomed to join us on our next MTB/photography joy ride.
The bike tour at the foot of the Patscherkofel is a pleasant excursion for families and a sporty bike tour, two for one. The enjoyable bike tour is hilly, but has by far no alpine steepness. Nevertheless, most cyclists will break a sweat with the 260 meters of elevation gain.
As a versatile leisure program, the largely well-signposted cycle path leads on gravel and asphalt through idyllic working landscapes and small villages. The starting point is easily accessible by bus with bike transport.
Road cyclists often choose a variant of this tour and add their “favorite locals lap” via Axams and Oberperfuss

Route description! This is how your Igls – Aldrans – Sistrans cycling route looks like on a map
Start of the tour is in Igls village center (870m). From here follow the cycle path through meadows and past the Lanser See (840m) and Mühlsee to Aldrans (760m). Now uphill via Rans and past the Herzsee (812m) and further uphill via Asten (886m) and later Starkensiedlung. In the further course the path leads through meadows and fields to Sistrans (919m). Through the village center, continuing to keep altitude, the path goes through a small piece of forest to the golf course Igls. Here you finally roll back downhill to the center of Igls.
Alternative
For road cyclists it is recommended to take the roads on the gravel sections and to add the southwestern low mountain range to Axams. This roughly doubles the tour. So it goes from Igls downhill towards Innsbruck center, over the Brenner road to Natters. Continue via Natterer See, Götzens, Birgitz, Axams, Sellrain, Oberperfuss, Ranggen and downhill into the Inn Valley to Kematen. Finally along the Inntal cycle path back to Innsbruck.

Photo tips that will make your Instagram pop – the views on your way back

For photographers, there is no one special photo spot on this loop. But there are many beautiful, small views. The view from the southern route back to Igls tends to be a bit more photogenic and you can emphasize the village-like character.
